“Kovac’s goal is to distribute vaccines and cover 20 percent of the population in all countries of the world, and the first delivery should be by the end of the first quarter of this year and cover three percent of the population: social workers. and health and all those who are on the front line and provide services to the population, “added Kostadinova.
As he says, the main objective is to guarantee an equal distribution of vaccines in all countries of the world.
“All Kovaks students, currently 190 countries around the world, should have equal access to two billion doses by the end of this year,” Kostadinova noted.
He stated that so far, the Kovaks program has delivered 33 million doses to 74 countries.
When asked if the delivery of vaccines from the Covax program is delayed, Kostadinova explained that since the program was established in 2020, a schedule has been established to begin distributing vaccines by the end of the first quarter of 2021.
“So the first delivery to Serbia was scheduled for the end of March and the beginning of April, so yesterday, April 2, the first dose of vaccines for Serbia arrived. At the end of February, Kovaks was ahead of schedule and started to distribute vaccines on February 24, when the first country received vaccines, “says Kostadinova.
Now, he points out, Kovacs will deliver vaccines to all countries in the region.
“We must be aware that there is a great demand for vaccines in the world market, so not everyone will be able to get vaccinated at the same time,” he added.
He stressed that Serbia is an excellent example of vaccination.
“We see that a massive vaccination is being carried out, I would like to congratulate the Government of Serbia for the excellent organization and implementation of the vaccination process. This situation is not in neighboring countries, but it is important that all countries in the region initiate and keep this process in parallel … across borders, “emphasized Kostadinova.
What the Western Balkans and Turkey Program brings
Together with the EU, UNICEF has launched a program for the Western Balkans and Turkey with the aim of mitigating the impact of kovids on the lives of children and families.
“UNICEF, in cooperation with the EU, is trying to preserve children’s rights: the rights to education, health care in the Western Balkans and Turkey. He noted that Serbia is in the lead, because the UNICEF office in Serbia has already started working on that program.
He stated that during the pandemic, it is essential to reach all the people who need medical attention, as well as support in the educational system.
“This is a key issue, because the Kovid 19 pandemic has widened the existing differences and we must ensure that no one is left out. We must reduce the gap that exists, the most vulnerable are the most affected within the population. The objective of the EU, together with UNICEF, is to ensure that “all children and families in the country will benefit from this recovery process,” concluded Kostadinova.
