While the government asks the first man of Srbijagas, Dušan Bajatović, an urgent reform and the resolution of 29 tasks in less than 5 months, the employees of this public company can rub their hands. These days they will receive 13 salaries, whose amount is the amount of the gross amount of one of their salaries, and they will account for it with the profit of this public company, which was around five billion dinars at the end of last year, he finds out “Blic BIznis”.

They received this New Year’s gift at age nine, because the last time the 2011 business year bond was paid was because they had to return the 2015 one, which was paid to them, by order of the then government. This practically means that just over 1,100 employees of this company will receive a net salary and a half, that is, it averages about 100,000 dinars. Although at first glance it seems a lot, this right derives from the collective agreement signed a few years ago, according to which the bonus, that is, 13 salaries, must be paid at the end of each year if the company has obtained benefits, 10 percent of that result.

Since the profits were made, they won’t get 10 percent yet, because then about 500 million dinars should be set aside for those purposes. According to information from “Blic Biznis”, the unions gave up this maximalist amount and agreed to allocate a total of 168 million dinars for these purposes. The reason for this agreement between the union and the management of the company is that it was agreed to set aside three billion dinars of the profit to cover the losses of this company from the previous period.

Our source from “Srbijagas” states that such a solution was proposed by the management and that the unions accepted it.

– This and the previous year were of utmost importance for “Srbijagas” due to the completion of the “Balkan Stream” gas pipeline and other investments that are important for the development of the company, under extremely difficult conditions caused by the corona pandemic virus. Despite this, the company managed to make a significant profit last year, which is to the credit of each of the employees. For these results, they are entitled to a reward, that is, a bonus, which, if the collective agreement is consistently respected, should be 10 per cent of the profits obtained, that is, about 500 million dinars. However, the management considered that it would not be appropriate to set aside such a large amount for 13 salaries and proposed that a part be used to cover losses that occurred after 2014 – says our interlocutor.

He adds that the unions also agreed with the management’s proposal.

– A compromise solution was found to pay each employee a gross salary. This practically means that in your accounts there will be a net salary and a half, which on average is around 100,000 dinars. In other words, some 168 million dinars were set aside from the profit, and not 500 dinars, which according to the collective agreement should be allocated to 13 salaries. The difference of 320 million dinars was used to cover losses incurred in the previous period. It is especially important to say that overall good business results contributed significantly to raising the level of payment for delivered gas, which reached close to 93 percent. This decision will likely provoke public comment, but it should be noted that Srbijagas employees have not received 13 salaries since 2011 – says our source.

The unions of “Srbijagas” confirmed the conclusions of “Blic Biznis” and say that they are entitled to 13 salaries resulting from the collective agreement.

– That agreement was verified by the Government of Serbia, and if our right were constantly respected, the total amount of our bonus would be significantly higher, because 10 percent of the profit obtained is around 500 million dinars. According to the management, we waived that amount and 168 million dinars will be used to cover some previous losses of the company, so a significant part of the money, which was supposed to go to 13 salaries, went to interest of the company. That is why we believe that the public has no reason to be dissatisfied with our bonuses, because the budget of Serbia also received around one billion dinars of this profit, which will be used for the needs of all citizens of Serbia – they estimate the unions of “Srbijagas”.

Company management declined to comment on our findings, while the Supervisory Board unofficially confirmed to us that the decision was made to pay all employees a bonus in the amount of a gross salary, which is approximately one and a half net salary. .
