The Vojvodina Public Health Institute announced today that it continues to assess the epidemiological situation in the province as extraordinary, with a greater tendency to worsen.
According to a statement published on the Institute’s website, 1,796 new cases of coronavirus were registered in Vojvodina the previous day.
High levels of the disease are still recorded in all municipalities, and Novi Sad, Pancevo, Sremska Mitrovica and Kikinda continue to lead the number of new cases.
The situation is reported to be especially critical in Pancevo, Zrenjanin and Sremska Mitrovica.
At the moment, the number of active cases registered in AP Vojvodina is 23,383, but the Institute estimates that the number is much higher.
The highest number of registered active cases is in Novi Sad, 8,230, followed by Pancevo with more than 2,000 and Zrenjanin, Kikinda and Subotica with more than 1,000 registered active cases.
The statement warns that the health system is in an extremely difficult, almost critical, situation and that health employees are making every effort to keep the system functioning.
The Institute calls on everyone to continue with the strict implementation of the announced measures to control the transmission of the disease in order to reduce the consequences of the trend to increase the number of patients and make it possible for the health system to function.
