The president of the Democratic Party (DS), Zoran Lutovac, today assessed that the tone and the way in which the president of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, commented on the statement of the president of the Union of Doctors and Pharmacists, Rade Panić, that the system Serbian health care has been broken are absolutely unacceptable.
On Saturday, Vučić rejected Panić’s claims that the healthcare system collapsed, adding that he would have responded “brutally” to Panić had he not been the state president.
In a statement, Lutovac assessed that the Serbian Progressive Party normalized violence and made it part of everyday life, and that its president, Aleksandar Vučić, was at the forefront of verbal violence.
“We all know how Aleksandar Vučić’s regime is settling accounts with dissidents in the controlled media, and especially with people who are brave enough to publicly speak the truth about the situation in Serbia,” Lutovac said.
He stated that it was time to resist that and asked the public to stand up for Rade Panić.
“I just say one thing to Mr. Panic and to all the other medical workers who do their jobs carefully and tell the truth: they are not alone. We are here to show solidarity, provide moral support, provide legal protection,” Lutovac emphasized.
Lutovac said that the pressures under which Panic and other doctors have been performing miracles for months and saving lives could not be imagined, but that they could be sent “a big thank you” and that they could be offered as much help as possible.
He assessed that the government is complying with the warnings of the unions and the association “United Against Covids”, instead of reacting and providing assistance to medical workers.
