Despite promises to break with the anti-Serbian policy of the old regime, the new Montenegrin Prime Minister Zdravko Krivokapic supported the decision of the Democratic Party of Socialists Milo Djukanovic to expel Serbian Ambassador Vladimir Bozovic from Montenegro.

It is interesting that Krivokapic defended this hostile move towards Serbia from Brussels, whose officials loudly called on Montenegro to renounce this measure in the spirit of a good neighbor policy.

Enraged many

– Everyone has the right to have a say, but if that declaration insults the independence and sovereignty of a country, of course, it will take appropriate measures, regardless of who the ambassador is – said Krivokapić.

By the way, the diplomatic representative of Serbia was declared persona non grata in Montenegro at the end of November because he called the 1918 Podgorica Assembly “liberated” and “free will” of the Montenegrin people. Krivokapic’s argument surprised, but also angered many in Montenegro, because he topped the “For the future of Montenegro” list, which was predominantly made up of parties inheriting the values of the Podgorica Assembly.

The director of the Society for Policy Research and Political Theory, Vladimir Pavićević, says on behalf of Kurir that the Prime Minister in this case should follow the recommendations of the EU.

– And the EU, welcoming Serbia’s decision to withdraw the decision on the expulsion of Montenegrin Ambassador Milosevic, proposed that Montenegro do the same in the spirit of good neighborly relations. That would be a proper European division of Mr. Krivokapic. Everything else would mean the continuity of the new prime minister’s policy with the division and the policy of Milo Đukanović. And the citizens of Montenegro do not support that – emphasized our interlocutor.

Patience runs out

The leader of the Democratic Front, Milan Knezevic, publicly warned Krivokapic that his organization’s patience was wearing thin.

– I ask Prime Minister Zdravko Krivokapić if he declared for the Podgorica Assembly in Brussels on November 24, 1918 that he “insults the independence and sovereignty of a country” and that “appropriate measures must be taken regardless of who the ambassador is” . Tic-tac – wrote on Twitter.

AMENDMENTS TO THE RELIGION LAW OF RELIGION APPROVED

The amendments to the controversial Freedom of Religion Law, which most endangered the sanctuaries of the Serbian Orthodox Church in Montenegro and for which liturgies were celebrated for months, were approved yesterday in the Montenegrin government with amendments. The Ministry of Justice, Human and Minority Rights proposed eliminating members related to the registration and ownership of religious communities.

Archpriest-staurophore Velibor Džomić, coordinator of the MOC Legal Council, tells Kurir that the amendments to the disputed Law on Religious Freedom are quite correct and that he believes that the Parliament of Montenegro will adopt them.

– The acquired rights of any church and religious community are not in danger, it is harmonized with international standards, the Constitution of Montenegro and the opinion of the Venice Commission of 2019. That is a good solution. Metropolitan Amfilohije played a crucial role during the liturgy, and today in the kingdom of God he rejoices that the will of the people has won and that the saints have been preserved. It is not absent, it is only invisibly present in Montenegro – says Džomić.
