BELGRADE – The Serbian team from the Belgrade Mathematical Gymnasium won a gold, two silver and two bronze medals, as well as a commendation at the 61st International Mathematical Olympiad, announced the Association of Mathematicians of Serbia.

Dobrica Jovanović won the gold medal, Jovan Toromanović and Vukašin Mihajlović won the silver medal, Miloš Milićev and Uroš Colović won the bronze, and Jovan Arizanović the accolades.

The limits for medals were 31 points earned for gold, 24 for silver and 15 for bronze.

In the team classification, the Serbian team ranked 25th, in the competition of 105 countries.

The team’s leadership consisted of Marko Radovanović, Bojan Bašić, Dušan Đukić and Nikola Petrović.

The formal host of the competition is Russia, that is, St. Petersburg, but only this year’s competition was held online, from September 19 to 28.

In Serbia, the local organization was entrusted to the Serbian Association of Mathematicians and the contest was held on the premises of the Belgrade Faculty of Mathematics.

“The Society of Mathematicians would like to thank the Faculty of Mathematics in Belgrade, which has hosted four international Olympics in mathematics and informatics in the last 25 days,” the statement said.
