The director of the Clinic for Tropical and Infectious Diseases, Dr. Goran Stevanovic, said today, after the meeting of the Minister of Health Zatibor Loncar with the directors of the covid hospitals, that a smaller number of patients with coronavirus does not mean victory but a respite which, according to him, should be used to prepare for the next wave.
Stevanovic told reporters that the number of patients showing up for the first exams is “stable” and relatively acceptable in this time frame. According to him, in the Infectious Diseases Clinic, that number is less than 100, which, he says, is a good result and shows the effectiveness of the measures and their respect.
According to Stevanović, what is a danger is that patients who have associated diseases appear permanently, but also those who do not have them with serious clinical pictures.
There are also patients who have been treated in hospitals for weeks and the fight for their lives still continues. “Some of them are on artificial ventilation, others on invasive, and that speaks for the fact that this is not a victory but a respite, that is, a little pause that we must use to prepare for the next wave. It depends more than anything. from us and respect for pandemic measures, “said Stevanović.
Stevanović says that the school year is starting, that the students will return, he says that all other meetings that are not necessary should be postponed, not only because of the sanctions, but also because of our conscience to protect ourselves and others. “Since July, the measures have yielded results and a reduction in the number of patients. If we strictly follow the measures, we will successfully treat patients with covid, but also those who have been waiting for weeks and months for diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. “Stevanovic noted.
