The director of the Serbian University Clinical Center, Milika Ashanin, stated that the epidemic situation in Serbia has worsened in recent days and that there is an evident increase in the number of infections as well as hospital admissions.
“There are more and more patients with a serious clinical picture. In regards to the Infectious Disease Clinic, in the last few days we have had an increase of up to 170 exams in 24 hours. We had a greater number and admissions. Right now, we have 435 difficult patients in Batajnica hospital, about 59 are in the intensive care unit and 36 have been intubated, “Ashanin told TV Pink.
As he himself says, the problem is the lack of respect for the ban on meetings, which always affects citizens by increasing infection, as well as admission to hospital.
When it comes to vaccinations in Serbia, Ashanin says exceptional success has been achieved.
“So far, we have vaccinated 2,700 employees at the Clinical Center, and about 1,600 of them have been fully vaccinated with two doses. We have also vaccinated 1,600 citizens, as well as 600 other people from various organizations of the state administration, ”Ashanin said, noting that a full vaccination should be done.
He noted that citizens mistakenly think that they are protected after the first dose, adding that it is not complete and that they have to wait with the second dose as well.
