Without mask – Gojko Vlaovic

On the occasion of the Day of Reconciliation in the First World War, the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, awarded Dr. Predrag Kon with the Order of the Star of Karadjordj of the first degree.

The president personally presented the recognition to Dr. Kon.

During that handover, neither the president nor Dr. Kon wore protective face masks and were less than five feet apart.

As is known, the Crisis Staff, of which Kon is a member, strictly prescribed that it is mandatory to wear masks indoors at all times, as well as that it is necessary to maintain a distance of another meter and a half with another person, if not available protective equipment.

According to crisis personnel, these are the basic measures to suppress the corona virus epidemic in Serbia.

Authorities, including President Vucic and Dr. Kon, are pushing for the measures to be strictly enforced.

However, in the present case, none of them complied.

The president of Serbia has been seen indoors without a mask before.

Without it, Police Minister Aleksandar Vulin was at the site where it was recently prescribed.

The Serbian authorities are obliged to strictly comply with the measures they have prescribed.

What they expect of citizens, and that is to wear masks in all enclosed spaces except in their homes, they must strictly respect themselves.

It is they who must give a personal example that wearing a mask is necessary in every situation, in addition to maintaining the prescribed distance.

However, the president and Dr. Kon did not do that, thus seizing the opportunity that other citizens of Serbia do not have.

And this does not happen for the first time during the corona virus epidemic when it comes to the two of them, but also to other officials.

During the curfew, President Vučić and Dr. Kon distinguished themselves by exercising the right to leave their homes every day during its duration, which the citizens of Serbia did not have.

It is not true that the President of Serbia had work obligations every day, just like Dr. Kon.

That is something that quite irritated the citizens of Serbia.

Now double standards are being applied again.

As far as is known, epidemiological measures do not contemplate the removal of personal protective equipment at ceremonies, not even at the awards ceremony.

They also do not foresee the possibility of violating the prescribed distance between two people inside without protective equipment.

It is completely irresponsible for the President and Dr. Kon to be in that neighborhood if it is known that it was officially announced that in case everyone wears masks, the chance of spreading the virus is only one percent.

After that, it is completely clear that the president and Dr. Kon do not have the moral right to warn or get angry with citizens who do not wear masks, since they themselves choose when to wear them and when not to wear them.

The competent services must determine whether both should be fined for not wearing masks.

I also take this opportunity to strongly condemn the anti-Semitic graffiti in Novi Sad directed against Dr. Predrag Kon.

Fascism is a greater evil than the corona virus.
