“There is no state of emergency,” epidemiologist Predrag Kon briefly denied to “Blic” speculations yesterday that the possibility of reintroducing the state of emergency as of October 1 is being considered.
He noted that there was a misunderstanding and a complete withdrawal from the context of certain statements, and concluded that the colleagues denied everything very quickly, ending all stories on that topic.
Explain that we are currently far from a state of emergency.
– On the contrary, we are in an oasis … The situation is uncertain, I would say, unfavorable. You have places in the territory of Serbia where you have no case of contagion, they have the right to say about their territory that the situation is favorable – emphasized Kon.
We remind you that yesterday in some Belgrade media speculation arose that the state of emergency could be reintroduced in our country, no less than on October 1. However, this news was quickly denied by crisis personnel.
The epidemiologist and member of the Crisis Staff Branislav Tiodorović sent a forceful message to spread misinformation on the aforementioned topic.
“It’s orthodox nonsense that no one mentioned except fools,” he said.
He noted that those who interpreted the statements probably confused the terms “state of emergency” and “state of emergency.”
– No one mentioned the state of emergency, nor is it possible to introduce it. But it is clear that someone has confused the two terms state of emergency and state of emergency. While the epidemic lasts, we are in an emergency situation, and this implies the implementation of all the measures that exist to reduce the risk of transmission of the infection. The state of emergency is something else, it implies restrictions and occurs only in those situations in which you have no control over the spread of the infection, which we are far from, and it makes no sense to talk about it – Professor Tiodorović explained yesterday to ” Blic “.
A similar reaction came from the deputy director of the Institute of Public Health “Milan Jovanović Batut”, Darija Kisić Tepavčević.
– I have not heard any of that, it is misinformation – said a member of the Crisis Staff briefly, answering the question whether a state of emergency is being introduced in Serbia as of October 1.
If that happens, they would be witnessing a catastrophe.
The issue of the reintroduction of the state of emergency, curfew, quarantine … was also relevant this summer, when the crown in Serbia literally went crazy.
What could be concluded then is that if we return to the situation that we need something like that, it will mean that we are witnessing a catastrophe! That would actually mean that our health facilities are in before the shooting, the hospitals are full, and the doctors are forced to choose who to help.
– In case the health system collapses, there is no other measure than quarantine. The substitute for blocking is wearing masks, said epidemiologist and crisis staff member Dr. Predrag Kon in early July.
Speaking at the time about the collapse of the healthcare system and the “lockdown”, Kon added that he still hopes that doesn’t happen.
– That’s when you have no other options. However, I don’t think the quarantine will happen again. This can be seen in our consciousness, only a small number of people do not wear masks, said Dr. Kon.
This optimism reigned while and while we were in the worst days in terms of numbers of infected (hundreds) and deaths (days in double digits), and now that the situation is much better, the fear that we will soon have such drastic measures is unfounded.
Let us encourage you, yesterday we had 61 new infections, we had no deaths and the number of people with respirators is 23. Today we have one deceased and 81 cattle out of 7,466 people examined.
In the days before that the number was around 80, at one point it dropped to 29, then it jumped to 102, but unlike when we had 5,000 people in hospitals being treated for the consequences of corona virus infection. According to the site covid19.rs, currently the number of hospitalized is 323.
