Although in the 45 municipalities of Vojvodina there is no epidemiological need to maintain an emergency situation, the situation is uncertain, mainly because there are active cases registered in all municipalities. The general situation regarding the beginning of the school year, the return of students, as well as the return of our citizens who spent their holidays outside of Serbia, do not go hand in hand either. However, it is encouraging that the Vojvodina health care system and all its citizens have successfully passed the above exam, regarding kovid 19.
How many positive cases have been registered in Vojvodina in the last days?
Single-digit numbers of newly infected people are currently being recorded in individual municipalities, and epidemiological services are monitoring and controlling their mode of infection. Comprehensive tests for the presence of the virus are still being carried out, which are being carried out in eight laboratories in Vojvodina, and are uniformly represented in all districts, says the provincial health secretary, Dr. Zoran Gojković.
We already had positive cases on September 1 in some schools in Serbia. What is the situation in the schools of Vojvodina?
The beginning of the school year and the return of students to school is a great challenge. We are all the most sensitive to the health of our little ones, but we must not forget that socialization is necessary for their education and upbringing, which can only be done by hanging out with their peers. If we do not provide this to children at this stage of life in a safe and relatively acceptable way, we can adversely affect their natural growth and development. So far, all the measures and recommendations adopted are giving results and, except for isolated cases, we have not had serious problems, especially thanks to a very serious approach and responsibility of both students and educators.
Is the introduction of mandatory quarantine or PCR testing being considered for Serbian citizens returning from summer vacation?
The epidemiological situation is constantly monitored and, based on that, certain recommendations and measures are made. Of course, the return of our citizens from risk regions is a potential problem, but we are still registering the highest number of newly infected people from larger or smaller celebrations, celebrations and festivities in our country. This is an important risk because it is enough that, due to irresponsibility and indiscipline, a light bulb easily turns into an uncontrolled fire that would nullify all previous efforts.
Will citizens of Serbia be used to test the Chinese corona vaccine?
There is a lot of mixed information and misinformation with different intentions regarding the kovid 19 vaccine. There are various medical researches in the world at various levels that are trying to provide the vaccine. In all countries and their laws, including our country, there are clear procedures regarding the participation of people in this type of medical studies and it is always on a voluntary basis. For a study to be launched in our country, there must be approvals from various professional bodies and institutions on all possible parameters, including the level of safety for the level of medical research. Whether someone participates in such projects out of a humanistic desire for the benefit of humanity or for other personal reasons depends solely on the voluntary and discrete decision of each individual.
Clubs, rafts, cafes are epidemiological bombs. Can they get in your way? How effective are inspectors?
The responsibility belongs to everyone because the fight against the pandemic is only possible if society fights as a whole, and which community recognizes and applies it, will have better results. It will be easier, faster and with less consequences to get out of this predicament. In the previous period, the health inspection supervised more than 2,000 different economic entities in the Vojvodina territory and filed more than 200 charges for minor offenses, for which a fine of up to 500,000 dinars was threatened. I understand the need for different types of meetings and that is why we try, with the prescribed security measures, to enable their maintenance, keeping the risk to the health of the participants in those events, as well as the rest of the citizens, minimal and acceptable.
What scenario do you predict for fall and winter? Are you expecting a collision between the corona and the flu?
We are seriously preparing for the time ahead, because it is the most natural environment for all respiratory infections. Therefore, it is of utmost importance and importance that we enter that period as late as possible, and if we will succeed, we repeat for the thousandth time that we apply everything we have learned in the previous six months. We have been vaccinated against influenza since October and adequate quantities of this vaccine have been purchased for the protection of all groups at risk and professionally exposed people, who will try to adequately combat this virus.
What is the situation with non-kovid patients?
The good news is that in all hospitals in Vojvodina, the number of hospitalized with confirmed covid 19 is less than 100 and continues to decline. Right now, almost 2,500 patients without covidity are being treated in the Vojvodina hospitals, and that number is constantly growing. That this trend continues depends on respecting the measures of all citizens, because that is the only precondition for the health system to do its job well.
THE ŠABAC CASE COULDLY PLACES LIES IN PUBLIC
Some media claim that Zorica Šakan, who is supposedly his sister, supplied RHIF with her company’s medical equipment from Šabac during the pandemic … Is that your sister? Is there any truth to these allegations that there was abuse?
Calculated, malicious and directed, completely unprofessional, another eyeless lie was placed on the public, in order to provide any space and influence for political backers and media moguls. This now goes so far that, if someone has the same name and surname, they are subjected to the most terrible insults and media harangues, because in this particular case the owner of the company seems to have the great misfortune that her brother has the same name and last name that the provincial secretary of health. People say, “If it wasn’t sad, it would be fun.”
Media violence under the guise of journalism and for a personal objective, becomes for some, without shame or embarrassment, a completely normal pattern of behavior. This means that every citizen today can be the subject of serious accusations without cover, and that whoever posts disinformation and slander has no professional responsibility or sanction, and can be rewarded for it.
