It would not be strange if the first man in the country did not have that surname, which is why many wondered if this place in the heart of Šumadija bears the name of the president, or if this name has been used since ancient times. Anyone who has a dilemma solves it very easily at the entrance to the town, where the store is located, a kind of intelligence office.

– The name of our village basically has nothing to do with Vučić, according to the stories of the ancients, many wolves used to live here a long time ago, this is how the name came to be. However, since the last name of our president is the same, anecdotes do not know the number. Residents of the surrounding villages often say – I go to Vučić a bit, as it is in Vučić, and when they ask us where we come from and we say Vučić, there is a lot of laughter, until we agree – says a neighbor of this town.

Vucic has its own president

When asked what the inhabitants of Vučić are called, they all answer out loud: the people of Vučić. Currently about 800 inhabitants live here, in about 200 houses. Most are engaged in agriculture or work in companies in the vicinity of Kragujevac or Raca.

– We have a four-year school with more than 20 students. The town is located near larger cities and municipalities and that is why not many people leave here. We live in harmony, we hang out and meet at weddings and holidays, and our favorite celebrations are when a child is born in our village. We have a soccer club, so children can play sports here too, says Srdjan Markovic, president of MZ Vucic.

According to the locals, they had no privilege due to the name of their village. In the previous elections, the list gathered around Aleksandar Vučić won 80 percent of the votes, so residents hope that the president will visit this town, which is called by his surname.
