WHY ARE MORE AND MORE PEOPLE WITH RESPIRATORS? Dr. Srdja Jankovic explained what is the cause of that and what is his opinion about the Swedish model.

He added that “more things are happening in parallel, and where the defensive wall relaxes, it gets worse, as soon as there are more viruses somewhere, all other segments may be in danger.”

The new school year started yesterday, and students are obliged to wear masks, Dr. Janković emphasized once again that “a mask cannot harm health”.

– We will not talk about how much it bothers and is not comfortable. It prevents diseases that can be fatal. In essence, keeping your distance, avoiding meetings and masks is the backbone of prevention, until we have the vaccine, that’s the only thing we can do to prevent the spread of the virus. I understand the personal feelings and protective attitude of parents because this is a new situation for all of us. It is understandable that there are different attitudes and opinions, but we all have to defend ourselves with the use of masks – emphasized Dr. Janković for TV Pink.

He also explained why, in addition to the drop in the number of patients, there are many people on respirators.

– The illness lasts for some time. When we have a downward trend, it will first be seen daily, and only after two or three weeks will it affect the number of people on respirators and the failure of the deceased. It should be 10, 15 days from the moment someone got infected, the immunologist said.

– On the one hand, there is always the fear of transmission, so much so that in the long run, when enough people find themselves in a situation to overcome this disease, a large number become immune and it is not possible for it to spread significantly. Our goal is to save human lives, any shortcut to herd immunity has no purpose. The Swedes did not take a shortcut either, it is very problematic even the smallest risk group has a risk. It is not too ethical to let someone get infected, if we do not have the vaccine, herd immunity is the way the epidemic and pandemic end. Our goal is not to speed it up, but to infect as few people as possible, Dr. Janković noted.
