Miljan Mandić (28) is a young man when he was brutally beaten by Ivan Kontić (30) in Novi Sad, knocked unconscious from the force of the blows and then broke both his arms so helplessly.

He is originally from Belgrade, but used to go to Novi Sad, where he graduated from the theater department at the University of the Arts. According to “Objektiv”, Mandić is a writer, playwright and screenwriter by profession, working on projects for a film about Tsar Dušan and the Battle of Košare. He is currently engaged in private activity in a company that exports truffles from Serbia.

This case of brutal beating has not yet been resolved as Kontić reportedly fled to Montenegro.

We remind you that according to the latest information, Kontić was at the Novi Sad Basic Prosecutor’s Office on 8 September, just three days before the search was announced and a video of the horrific attack was posted on the Internet. The Basic Public Ministry says that at that time they had no information that Kontić was being wanted for attempted murder, while the Ministry of the Interior states that on August 24 the Prosecutor’s Office was informed of everything.

Biljana Ivkovic Popovic, Secretary of State for the Interior Ministry, said that on August 27 a police officer spoke with the victim “for more than 5 minutes, trying to convince him that it was important to testify.”

– The victim, of course, does not agree. The injured party spoke only on September 2, stating that he knew the attackers and that the conflict was a consequence of security work. So, there were also those conflicts in the previous period – said the Secretary of State.

He added that the police also spoke with witnesses to the attack.

The beaten young man suffered serious bodily injuries

Ivan Kontić inflicted a serious bodily injury on the 28-year-old Mandić, a fracture of the head of the fibula, multiple abrasions and a lacerocontus (laceration) wound to the head. He suffered damage during home treatment, which he was discharged the same day after receiving medical assistance at the Vojvodina Clinical Center.
