At the Horgos border crossing, customs officials, in cooperation with the police, seized a total of 15 sets of hookahs, almost 200 kilograms of hookah tobacco and more than 1,700 male and female deodorants yesterday and today.

Hookah tobacco and deodorants were discovered this morning, when a bus traveling on the Dortmund-Peja route, with only five passengers, arrived at the entry control, the Customs Administration announced.

Although passengers and drivers said they had nothing to declare for customs, a detailed search found 18 cardboard boxes containing 10 one-kilogram plastic cans of hookah tobacco of varying tastes.

Additionally, about 1,000 female deodorants and more than 700 male deodorants were found in cardboard boxes and sports bags.

A 48-year-old Albanian driver with Kosovo documents claimed responsibility for the smuggled goods.

A day earlier, on leaving the country, a “Volkswagen Turan” with Swiss license plates was selected for detailed inspection, which was used by a married couple of Swiss nationals from Kosovo and Metohija.

Underneath the bags and suitcases with clothes were found 15 sets of hookahs for smoking, with eight one-kilogram packs of hookah tobacco of different tastes.

In both cases, the undeclared goods were retained until the completion of the fault procedure before the competent court, indicated in the announcement.
