WHEN SHOULD I COME FOR THE REVACCINATION? Here’s how you’ll find out, but also why March is the tipping point of the Kovid epidemic.

More than 360,000 people in Serbia have been vaccinated so far, and many wonder when they should receive the second dose of the kovid 19 vaccine, as they did not receive that information during the first vaccination.

There is no need to worry about that, because, as the Ministry of Health told us, everyone who received the first dose of the vaccine will receive an SMS with a revaccination call. Therefore, following the same principle as when you were first informed to come for a vaccination.

Since Serbia started mass vaccination 10 days ago, it has been at the top of Europe in terms of daily number of vaccinated per 100 inhabitants, at one point we were even in second place, only behind Great Britain.

Almost all vaccinated people praise the organization at virtually every vaccination point, but most have only one dilemma: when they should receive the second dose of the vaccine.

Vaccination queues at the Fair

– I received the vaccine on Monday, but no one at the Palilula Health Center could tell me when he would come for the revaccination. The deadline for the second dose is not even written on the vaccination certificate, so I don’t know if I should come for the revaccination after three or four weeks or someone will call me, Aleksandar Markovic from Belgrade asks.

Blic sought an answer to that question from the Ministry of Health.

– All those who received the first dose of vaccination will receive an SMS with a revaccination call – they point out in the Ministry of Health.

Regarding the doses for revaccination, the authorities assure that there are no problems, that is, there will be enough for everyone, and that was confirmed today by the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić.

It takes more than a month for the full effect of the vaccine.

Otherwise, to receive the full dose, that is, the first and second doses of the vaccine, it takes an average of 25 days, which depends on which vaccine it is.

Therefore, for the “Pfizer” vaccine, the period between two doses is three weeks, while a long dose of Chinese vaccine can be administered as early as two weeks after the first. The Russian “Sputnik V” vaccine requires the longest time interval between the two doses – 28 days.

The vaccine works 7-10 days after the second dose.

The vaccine works 7-10 days after the second dose.

The vaccine is fully effective 7-10 days after the second dose.

– If you consider two doses, the Chinese vaccine has the shortest period to administer the doses. Let’s take the average that it takes 28 days for the Russian, 21 days for the Pfizer and at least another 7 to 10 days, which means that it takes more than a month for the full effect of the vaccine, explains epidemiologist Branislav Tiodorović.

In March, a complete picture of herd immunity

When it comes to herd immunity, Tidorović is expected to have an accurate picture of how protected we are already in March.

– In mid-February we will have the first data on the number of vaccinated people who received two doses, and who acquired that level of protection. On the other hand, we also have those who beat the kovid. By the end of February, we will certainly have a much clearer picture of which direction we are going and what moves should be taken further.

As he says, March will give us a complete picture.

– Then there will be a study that will give us some guidelines. There is no relaxation in any case and that is the responsibility that each individual already has – says Professor Tiodorović.

The epidemiologist believes that we will feel freer at the beginning of the summer months.
