Speaking on the RTS morning show, the director of the National Employment Service, Zoran Martinović, said that the economy in the second quarter operated under the strong influence of the epidemic and the measures taken by the government, and that those measures preserved the economic stability and employment.
According to him, at the beginning of the year, the number of unemployed was 515,000, but in August the situation improved. He adds that we have the same number of unemployed as last year and that the government measures have full effect and meaning.
“I am sure that by the end of the year, and we will see how it will work out next year, we will maintain that stability, and I believe that next year we will have fewer unemployed in the records of the National Employment Service,” Martinovic said.
The easiest to find jobs are computer scientists, civil and mechanical engineers, economists, construction workers, doctors, and medical personnel.
Statistics show that the demand for couriers, messengers, social workers, carers has increased.
The director of the National Employment Service says that the labor market is fully operational and that there are a small number of layoffs.
“In the conditions of the epidemic, the tourism sector, catering, mini-commerce, transport were the most affected. Very shortly after the end of the state of emergency, that market also stabilized. Only tourism did not notice more employees but the commercial sector certainly did, “explains Martinović.
Zoran Martinović explains that during the epidemic and the state of emergency, the possibility of electronically reporting to the Employment Service was introduced and the unemployed were informed that they would not be removed from the registers until further notice because many could not register.
“The measures taken by the government and the ‘My first salary’ program, which should include some 10,000 young people, will undoubtedly influence the job market to remain stable,” said the director of the National Employment Service, Zoran Martinovic.
