We will severely sanction violations of the measures

Yesterday, in Serbia 1,328 new infected with coronavirus were registered in just 24 hours, a record number since the beginning of the epidemic. Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić noted that no matter how difficult and worrying these numbers are, there is still no room for panic.

He emphasized that he does not want to introduce a traffic ban and a curfew, unless the health system reaches the brink of the abyss, but announced that violations of the measures already adopted will be severely punished in the coming days.

– We will severely sanction those who do not respect the measures introduced, and you will see that in the coming days. We have no other choice, we cannot close our economy and our life, but what is absolutely minimal will have to be respected – said Vučić at the conference after meeting with the directors of the Kovid hospitals.

Five died

In Serbia, samples from 9,690 people have been analyzed since the last report and up to five patients have died. Currently, 946 patients have been hospitalized, of which 39 are on ventilators. The total number of deaths since the beginning of the epidemic is 803.

Vučić noted that these figures are worrying, but that the situation is still better than in all parts of Europe. He thanked health workers and announced that by the end of the year, the 120,000 doctors in Serbia will receive a one-time aid of 10,000 dinars, while from January 1 they will receive a salary increase, which will be the largest in the public sector:

– This shows the determination of Serbia to take care of the health of its citizens. We show that as a country we have the strength to fight and face the European and world problem that the coronavirus brought.

When asked if the introduction of a state of emergency could be considered if the number of infected people exceeds 1,500 per day, he said that he did not want a movement ban to preserve the economy, but that the decision on measures was made by the seat of the crisis.

– That option always exists, but it is better not to think about it, but about how to avoid that option. If that happens, they will talk to people from the health system, because it was never a political decision – said Vučić, adding that what was already adopted was not implemented sufficiently and that is why we must be more acute and serious in the implementation of the measures. are already in force.

Vučić noted that the epidemiological situation is the most difficult in Belgrade and Kragujevac, but that 30 new beds are already being opened at KBC “Dragiša Mišović”, as well as new beds at Zemun Hospital.

– In the Zemun hospital, a part will remain invisible, since the situation is not so difficult yet, and it will be similar in the Pancevo hospital – he said and announced that the next hospital to be covident will be KBC “Zvezdara”.

As Vučić announced, the Kovid hospital in Batajnica, which will have 250 intensive care beds, will start operating on December 2, while the hospital in Kruševac will open between December 15 and 20. The construction of these hospitals will cost between 80 and 90 million euros.

– We will also build new rapid temporary hospitals, like in Karaburma, which can be built in 10 or 15 days – said Vučić.

Vaccines are coming

– The legend of our infectious disease hospital and its first man is also infected, and today he does not do his duty, because he is isolated. He does not want to take the bed of someone who is in a more serious condition, so we all worry a little about his health – said Vučić.

Vučić also announced that the first batch of corona virus vaccines will arrive in Serbia by the end of the year, while the second batch of 350,000 pieces is expected by the end of March.

– The pre-purchase agreement was signed with the American pharmaceutical company “Pfizer”, which together with the Germans manufactures a vaccine – said Vučić adding that the agreed amount will not be enough to vaccinate health workers, policemen, soldiers, citizens elderly, chronic patients and others, because Serbia is discussing the purchase of vaccines with the Russians and the Chinese.

Vučić reiterated that these vaccines will be free for our citizens and warned that more and more people use respirators and are in hospitals and that the number will continue to grow.

– We will fight to grow by arithmetic progression, not geometric – he said, adding that compared to other countries in the world and in the region, we still keep things under control, and that if we look at the examples of Slovenia and Croatia, Serbia would be proportional to the population. there were between 4,000 and 9,000 new infections and 55 deaths.

Vučić also said he was concerned that large numbers of medical workers were infected, and among them was Goran Stevanović, director of the Infectious Diseases Clinic. He stated that Stevanović does not want to take the bed of patients with a more serious clinical picture, and therefore is isolated.

– We are concerned about his condition – said Vučić.

Dr. Predrag Kon cautions

CONTACT PROHIBITION

Epidemiologist Predrag Kon declared yesterday that he expects a further increase in the number of people infected with the corona virus this week and next, and claims that only after that can the curve be flattened.

– We must understand that the measures that were adopted as mandatory must really be implemented, there should be no more passengers on the buses who do not wear masks, there must not be people inside who do not wear masks. Personally, I think wearing masks should also be mandatory in the outdoor environment, Kon stated to Tanjug.

When asked what additional steps could be taken now, Conn said it could be a dating ban.

– I said a long time ago – the ban on contacts and all that that means. The prohibition of contacts is a measure. When should it be taken? Yesterday. It is necessary to act immediately – affirmed.
