I believe that my Serbian origin will help me to know the culture and language of the region, but I also hope that my professional experience in business, especially in finance in the United States, will help me to join the historic project of DFC in the region – said John Jovanovic, director of the DFC office. and in Belgrade.
He noted as a guest on RTS that his colleagues in Washington are delighted with the potential of the region in the social sense.
– I was surprised how many people are prepared and how much they waited for the return of the American economy, the arrival of American investments. The peoples of the region and we share many values. They would like us to build on those values and business projects, but also projects in the social sense, especially when it comes to women’s entrepreneurship. Many called and said it was a great opportunity for Serbia, but also for the region – said Jovanović.
According to him, the most important thing is to complete several projects in the first three months.
– I think the first opportunity will be to join the projects that are already underway. An excellent example is the Nis-Pristina highway. And add some of our resources. We have a fund at our disposal. My colleague Adam Bouler spoke yesterday about the potential that we see (DFC) in the region, especially at the beginning, they are projects and companies that better connect the region in the economic sphere. There will be big projects, I hope – explained the director of the DFC office in Belgrade.
He adds that Richard Grenell told him last night that he would measure success by the number of new jobs that will be created, first on the Belgrade-Pristina route and then in the region.
– That will be our measure of success.
“Mother was delighted”
As she comes from a Serbian family, when asked what her parents’ relatives said to her after she took a job in Serbia, she said her mother was delighted.
– My wife was also very satisfied and gave me all the support. We have a young family, four children who are together, as my mother would say, from ear to ear. Everyone supported me because we think that this is an exceptional opportunity that happens once in the region and certainly in my life – concluded Jovanović.
