We are in a situation where we no longer have a choice, we have to take some steps for our health care system to survive, said epidemiologist Dr. Predrag Kon.
When asked if we need a longer lockdown, Dr. Kon said it is now “a minimum of 10 to 14 days to be under action, because the virus is so all around us that it is impossible to stop it without drastic action.”
An epidemiologist and a member of the crisis staff also warned that the collapse of the health system would increase the number of deaths.
Dr. Kon, as a guest on TV Prva together with Deputy Mayor Goran Vesić, emphasized that if everyone respected the rules: mask, distance, hygiene, we would not need such drastic measures, and that the only way out of this situation is mass vaccination.
The number of people infected with coronavirus is growing in Serbia, but also the number of people who died from the coronavirus, so the crisis personnel for the fight against the coronavirus decided to “close” this weekend as well. That is, today and tomorrow it does nothing but grocery stores, gas stations, pharmacies, kiosks and food delivery.
According to the latest data, published yesterday at 3:00 p.m., in one day, 4,668 new infections were registered in Serbia out of 16,831 people examined. Yesterday we had an increase in the number of deaths: 26, and the number of people on respirators yesterday was 208.
