WE KNOW: tougher measures in Serbia – HEADQUARTERS OF CRISIS SENT A LETTER, THE SERBIAN GOVERNMENT SENT AN APPEAL

The Crisis Personnel for the Protection of the Health of the Population against the COVID-19 Infectious Disease strongly condemns the violation of epidemiological measures that was warned in certain units of local self-government during the previous weekend. In the extraordinary session of the Crisis Staff, which was held today, a greater supervision of the inspection was requested, considering that at this time, just before the start of the school year, it is totally inadmissible to violate the measure.

The Crisis Staff sent letters to all mayors and mayors reminding them that they are obliged to ensure respect for all epidemiological measures in their territory, without exception, and that there will be no tolerance for non-compliance with the measures.

If they notice even a minimal breach of preventive measures, the competent authorities are obliged to act in accordance with the law and punish such behavior. This especially concerns the organizers of various events throughout Serbia, whose obligation is to provide all conditions so that the health of citizens is not endangered.

Therefore, the Government of the Republic of Serbia will instruct the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of the Interior, in cooperation with the Coordinating Commission for Inspection, Supervision and inspection services of local self-government units, to strengthen the control of compliance with measures and prepare a joint control plan for compliance with all epidemiological measures in force.

All citizens of Serbia who notice the breach of preventive measures can report it through the exclusive Contact Center for Inspections through the portal www.inspektor.gov.rs or by calling the phone number 011/6350322.

The laws of the Republic of Serbia, as well as all protocols on the implementation of epidemiological measures drawn up by the Crisis Personnel, unequivocally determine the ways in which events can be organized and there should be no compromises regarding their observance.

The number of infected and hospitalized, as well as the number of examinations in recent days, give us reason for optimism, but not for relaxation. Any irresponsible behavior in the next few days will be clearly reflected in the statistics in two or three weeks, which is certainly a scenario we want to avoid. The exit of certain health institutions from the Covid system after a long time gives health workers the opportunity to rest at least a little before the fall. Any massive concentration without respecting preventive measures, irresponsible behavior and not wearing masks indoors is, in addition to endangering one’s health, the health of other people and disrespecting the law, a kind of lack of respect for workers who have borne the greatest burden of the fight against coronavirus.

The Government of the Republic of Serbia again appeals to all citizens to respect all measures taken for the sake of their own health and the health of their loved ones. The only safe and proven protection against coronavirus to date is respect for preventive measures. Any deviation or non-compliance with the measures takes us away from the goal, and that is the final victory over the coronavirus, which we will only achieve with a high level of discipline in responsibility.
