BELGRADE – Crisis staff member, Minister of Labor, Employment, Veterans and Social Affairs Darija Kisic Tepavcevic said today that the epidemiological situation in Serbia is alarming, because every day a large number of infected, hospitalized and dead from coronavirus.
At the same time, he noted that if everyone wore masks and kept their distance, no other measures would be necessary.
“If we look at the proportion of hospitalized and discharged, we have a plus of 300 in the last days, which means that we need 300 new beds every day. That figure is something really alarming,” Kisic Tepavecevic told TV Prva.
He stated that every day a great effort is made to organize the health system and to test a much larger number of people.
Kisic Tepavcevic strongly condemned the behavior of people who rushed to shopping malls yesterday on the occasion of the so-called Black Friday. He also stated that it is important to note that the measures are strictly implemented in all social protection institutions.
For us, users and our citizens are a priority, but if we compare the results with other countries, we see that these percentages are lower than in other countries, but that is not a benchmark for us, says the minister.
Once again he explained why the measures were more rigorous at the beginning of the epidemic, when the degree of the disease was lower.
“It was an idea to protect the most threatened. The elderly, as the most responsible part of the nation, accepted all the recommendations,” says Kisić Tepavčević, adding that even now the highest percentage of patients is in the group of least 60 years.
