Tonight, Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić welcomed a new contingent with Russian “Sputnik ve” vaccines at “Nikola Tesla” airport.

The plane of the Serbian national airline “Air Serbia” landed around 10:45 pm with 100,000 vaccines against the corona virus.

– We are talking about the production of the Russian vaccine in Serbia, it is a difficult job for us. We will pack first, then we will make the correct production. In Sputnik you have two doses, the components are different. We have to revaccinate a lot of people to have a continuous process. Now we have that second dose. I’m very grateful. It is important to me that vaccines are safe and protected and that, regardless of our indiscipline, we reduce the number of deaths per corona. Thank you and President Putin – said Vucic.

In addition to him, the Russian ambassador to Serbia, Aleksandar Bocan Kharchenko, and the Serbian Minister of Health, Zlatibor Loncar, are at the airport.

Vučić told Bocan Kharčenko that another 58,000 Pfizer vaccines will arrive in Serbia tomorrow, but that after the Chinese vaccine, Serbia has the most Russian vaccines.

– The Russian vaccine is 293,000 behind the Chinese, and then Pfizer with 170,000, but with the quantities of tomorrow it will be 230,000 – he said.

He added that he spoke with the ambassador about the production of the Russian vaccine, which will be a difficult task.

– The crown will not go, we will have to vaccinate regularly. We have a difficult task ahead of us. Thanks to Putin for giving us the opportunity to produce vaccines. Our capacities would be up to 20 million, all that we would distribute to the countries of the region. We have 2,630 million vaccines, so far we have provided vaccination and revaccination for one million and 400,000 people, that’s more than 20 percent of the population and an incredible result – said Vučić.

He recalled that Russia also had problems in the fight against the coronary virus pandemic, but, he says, in addition to that, they got on with Serbia and found a way to help us.

– I begged Putin to help us and this is an expression of his will and desire to help Serbia and the Serbian people – said Vučić.

Ambassador Bocan Kharchenko said he would send Putin’s messages to Putin.

– The cooperation is carried out constructively and in accordance with the high-level agreement between President Putin and Vučić. There is a similar saying here and in Russia: a friend is known in difficult times, it is important that this cooperation has confirmed that we are friends and have brotherly relations. In any situation, we are ready to help each other – he said.

He confirmed that the delivery of vaccines from Moscow will continue, so the vaccination process will continue uninterrupted.

– The delivery arrived just in time, because now is the time to improve the evolution of the epidemic situation. This is a crucial moment. I believe that our delivery of Sputnik V will help improve the situation in fraternal Serbia – he said.

According to him, he will do everything in his power to package and distribute Serbia in June, and produce Sputnik V for the region before the end of the year.

Immediately after arrival at the “Nikola Tesla” airport in Belgrade, the vaccines will be transported to the “Torlak” Institute in Belgrade, from where they will be distributed tomorrow to the vaccination centers in Serbia.

Serbia agreed to buy a total of two million vaccines from Russia, with the total quantity due to be delivered by the end of April.

A week ago, Vučić received a plane from Istanbul, which delivered 150,000 AstraZeneca vaccines to Serbia, which are produced in India.

– Human health is the greatest value and what you most need to invest in. By plane from Istanbul, 150,000 vaccines arrived in Serbia. That means another 150,000 vaccinated people. I am proud of Serbia, the responsibility, the seriousness that we have shown in the fight for the health of our citizens, for the preservation of life and the progress of the economy in our country – said Vučić at the time.

This required a lot of effort from our country, but also from our friends in the UK and India. Thank you for wanting to listen to us and pay attention to a little Serbia, added Vučić.

By the way, Serbia ranks sixth in the world and second in Europe in terms of number of vaccinations per million inhabitants, after Great Britain. In terms of the number of people who received the second dose of the vaccine per million inhabitants, Serbia is the first in Europe and the fourth in the world.

Serbia is convincingly the first in the region in terms of the number of vaccinations per million inhabitants.

An additional 58,500 Pfizer vaccines are expected to arrive in Serbia tomorrow and another 500,000 Sinofarm vaccines on 5 March.
