During today’s tour of the construction sites of the new kovid hospital at the “Zemun ekonomija” Military Complex in Batajnički Drum, President Aleksandar Vučić said that the hospital would be completed on December 1.
We are facing a difficult autumn and winter, as well as the whole of Europe and the world, Vučić said, emphasizing that he was “happy to be ready to invest money in hospitals in Belgrade and Kruševac.”
– I remember that we were willing to invest more than four billion here, more than two in Krusevac and another two billion in equipment. I am satisfied that I included the Serbian construction industry two months ago, there was nothing here, now the construction is visible – said Vučić.
– If there is no kovida, we do not throw money away. Goran (Stevanović) believes that we will have many other infections in the future. We are building a three-part multifunctional facility, we also have a gynecology part, in New Belgrade and Zemun we are in deficit with that, we will use those capacities here, there will be many infectious care beds – he said.
He then emphasized that the works are being carried out in other hospitals in Serbia.
– Reconstruction of general hospitals, 50 million euros in Krusevac, first phase in Prokuplje soon, Pirot and Kikinda go to public procurement and works begin, Leskovac, Arandjelovac, Smederevska Palnaka, Vrbas, Loznica, Pozarevac, Novi Pazar, if so You see, they are tremendously important centers. We are renovating the Infectious Disease Clinic where it was scary to work for all of our doctors. In total, the works are around 170 million euros – emphasized Vučić, adding that it shows the strength of the state.
“We were about to shoot”
– We are in the race to defend life and that is why it is important that we enter a clean hospital here on December 1. Between 240 and 270 workers work here at any one time, some 150 more people are working on preparing the material. 20 Serbian construction companies work here, we are not late in payment. This will be the best equipment possible so that they can receive the best medical care. At one point, we were on the verge of firing in April and June-July, when all the hospitals were full and there was no capacity. We struggled to get a respirator, many did not sleep. I want to thank the doctors, the wonderful people who still do the hardest part of the job today. They have to work all day, be in space suits – he emphasized.
The President of Serbia also commented on the EU decision not to remove Serbia from the “red list”, although the epidemiological situation in our country is now better.
– They did not decide on Serbia, we are campaigning against the EU. They refer to other non-member countries. There was also no response to members. Our results are indisputable, unquestionable – said Vučić.
