BELGRADE – The tragedy that happened today in front of several hundred tourist workers, during the protest in front of the Ministry of Tourism and the Ministry of Finance in Belgrade, struck everyone present.

“Sim Tours” worker Zeljko Dzenic passed away during the protest and founded this respectable agency in 1992.

The difficult situation in the tourism sector, most affected by the corona virus pandemic, has pushed agencies to the brink. Workers and owners are under great pressure and, sadly, today’s event is only a consequence of the business collapse.

One of the deceased’s companions says that the situation is getting worse and that he simply sees no way out.

– We are on the verge of bankruptcy, the agency “Sim Tours” was linked to Greece and excursions, which means that it could not operate for a whole year. We do not have work, the state helped, but despite that, all agencies are on the verge of collapse and bankruptcy – says Kurir’s interlocutor, who is not optimistic.

– New bankruptcies are expected from January, and if, by some miracle, the business does not start in the spring, the forecasts are pessimistic. We haven’t slept since March – says the interlocutor.
