WE ALL CALL SAN SAVA WRONG: Serbian historian gives unknown details about Serbian saint

On that occasion, the historian Dejan Ristic explained how important Saint Sava was to the Serbian people, but he also discovered an interesting fact about how it is correct to pronounce the name of this saint.

– When we talk about Saint Sava, we have to talk about the First Serbian. Why is this important? We had up to five heads of the Serbian Orthodox Church named Sava. Three of them were canonized as Saint Sava the Serbian, so when we talk about Rastko and the monk Sava, then we must use the name of Saint Sava the First Serbian. He was a monk and ascetic, theologian, diplomat, statesman, traveler, founder of several important monasteries, says historian Dejan Ristic.

He added that today we do not know at all the historical heritage of Saint Sava the First of Serbia, calling him one of the fathers of the nation.

– What is very important in the case of Saint Simeon and Saint Sava I of Serbia, the centuries that passed after their death, only demonstrated how important their heritage is for us – concluded the famous historian.
