Artists outraged by the persecution of Jelisaveta Seka Sablić, Dragan Bjeloglić and the president’s reaction
After MP Marko Atlagić’s attack on actress Jelisaveta Seka Sablić and actor and director Dragan Bjelogrlić, President Aleksandar Vučić, as a guest on RTS, apologized to everyone who was offended by this behavior, adding that he was not according to none of the legendary actress’s views in an interview with NIN, which, as she noted, is “purely political.”
– I would not agree with a single sentence. But it was not necessary for Marko to characterize and give his assessment of what Seka Sablić is like. That is politically incorrect – said the president.
He added that the harsh comments on the deputy’s behavior came from the same people who criticized director Lazar Ristovski and actors Bulet Goncić, Nenad Jezdić and Miki Manojlović.
– Miki Manojlović faced the worst insults. That is why I ask the Members not to be like them. I want to apologize to all the people who were offended by something like this in my own name and on behalf of the party to which I belong – Aleksandar Vučić told RTS. He also claimed that in addition to the fact that Atlagić’s attacks are politically incorrect, they are also politically damaging. – That hurts us, although I know that Atlagić did not do it on purpose – concluded the president.
For the actress Seka Sablić, it is, as she stated for the Nova portal, “a story she no longer wants to enter”.
– I am not interested in anything at all, I thanked everyone who supported me and did not delve into the story – Sablić said for the Nova portal.
It should be remembered that the Serbian Association of Dramatic Artists (UDUS) vigorously protested the attack on Seko Sablić and Dragan Bjelogrlić, but many of their colleagues did the same.
In addition, many wondered whether it was worth reacting to the “Assembly” attacks, as those who sympathize with the victims of the insults the next day become a new target for MP Marko Atlagić.
Actress Svetlana Bojković was the first to express this attitude in the Danas newspaper, and the artistic director of BITEF, Ivan Medenica, agrees with her.
He told Danas that instead of continual attacks and reactions to them, a “generic response” might be necessary.
– I agree with the position of Svetlana Bojković, and when the topic was the attack on Jelisaveta Sablić, that this could turn into a vicious cycle of continuous attacks and reactions to them: perhaps a generic response should be made and activated if necessary . The nonsense of the situation also stems from the fact that these attacks, these against Sablić and Bjelogrlić, are stupid, arbitrary (depending on the title, not even the full interview, or a statement taken out of context), populist to the point of nausea. physical … However, they must be reacts in the most energetic way possible because they come from the National Assembly. These homeless attacks on parliament, apart from all the issues discussed there, would be unacceptable in any situation, but the matter becomes especially worrying, even dangerous, when it comes to the convocation in which, in fact, almost exclusively representatives of the government sit. What message is being sent to citizens with such persecution, what can it provide an alibi for? The collapse of parliament is the collapse of democracy, it must be stopped urgently – said Ivan Medenica.
The reactions of colleagues to the attacks of the artists in the “Assembly”, as well as in the tabloids close to the authorities, do not stop on social networks, and most are disappointed and, conditionally, by the president’s apology.
Director Goran Markovic noted for the Nova portal that Vucic was pretending to be “clumsy” when he said that he did not agree with the way Atlagic was addressing the actress, and immediately added that he did not agree with her views in a interview given to Nina.
Writer and visual artist Dejan Atanackovic believes that Vucic’s apology is part of a strategy of violence.
– Your apology is the greatest hypocrisy of all. That apology is part of the strategy of violence and humiliation that is being carried out daily against us. Apologize for the hundreds of deaths of covids, for the dead workers, for millions of thefts of the public budget, for the destruction of the city, for blackmail and dismissal, for stolen pensions, for permanent harassment and threats to the citizens of Serbia – said Dejan Atanackovic.
Vučić’s signature
Dejan Atanacković notes that it is devastating that citizens continue to pay for the vulgarity to which they are exposed. – The most stupid and humiliating of all is that the citizens of Serbia pay it. All that violence and all that vulgarity, we pay for it. We pay that some useless insult our artists, that in a senseless and illegal parliament a representative of a regime that poisons, robs and kills Serbia, accuses the legend of Yugoslav and Serbian cinema, the artist with whose roles we grew up, whose replicas we quote, of lack of patriotism. We finance it. Do citizens of Serbia want to finance it? If they do not want to, it is necessary to go immediately to that parliament in an organized way and convey clear and strong messages to them. That totalitarian and half-hearted parliament bears only Vučić’s signature. That parliament is Vučić – says Atanacković.
