Gas has been flowing through our country through the Balkans since this morning. Serbia received other supply routes.

President Aleksandar Vučić congratulated the contractors on the work successfully completed and wished them a happy new year.

“This is something big and important to us,” Vucic said.

President Vučić noted that Serbia provided stability and energy security with the “Balkan Stream” gas pipeline, which is important to attract new investors.

Vučić said in Gospodjinci that gas is distributed from there through the primary and secondary pipeline system.

He pointed out that we obtain gas through that gas pipeline at a price of up to $ 155, with much lower transportation costs, than through another pipeline through which we have been supplied up to now.

Vučić recalled that an additional $ 30 was charged for the delivery of gas through Ukraine and Hungary to Serbia, plus an additional $ 18 for transportation through our territory.

“We only spent $ 48 on that. And now it will cost between $ 12 and $ 14. I think that’s significant savings. Strategically, this is very important to us,” he said.

Taking into account the high price of the construction of the gas pipeline, the favorable circumstance, says the president, is that together with our partner we will collect the transit tax and thus pay those costs.

“With this gas, we provide energy security and we have the opportunity to attract additional investors,” the president said.

Vučić announced that gas will be brought to many municipalities where it is not available, which will also attract everyone who wants to open factories.

“We still have a lot of work to do, but this guarantees a safer and better future. I don’t know what it will be like between Russia and Ukraine regarding the trade agreement, but Serbia, with the help of Russian partners, managed to secure the supply of its territory.” he explained.

Through the pipeline through Serbia, the gas will go to Hungary and Bosnia and Herzegovina, and there is a possibility that it will reach other countries in the region.

The inauguration was attended by the director of “Srbijagas” Dusana Bajatovic, the Russian ambassador Aleksandar Bocan-Kharchenko, the construction minister Tomislav Momirovic, the former energy minister Aleksandar Antic and the prime minister of Vojvodina Igor Mirovic, as well as the president of “Energotehnika Juzna Backa” Dragicjub.

Bocan-Kharchenko: Serbia’s energy stability assured

The construction and commissioning of the “Balkan Stream”, part of the “Turkish Stream” gas pipeline from the Bulgarian to the Hungarian border, has fully ensured energy stability and security for Serbia, said Russian Ambassador to Serbia Aleksandar Bocan-Kharchenko .

“The most important part of one of the global projects of our joint cooperation has been completed. This gas pipeline will provide stability and give Serbia the opportunity for further development of internal infrastructure, and energy stability and security and stable energy supply. they will be fully guaranteed, “said the ambassador.

He added that the construction of gas infrastructure fully fits into the economic development guidelines, which were presented by the President of Serbia on New Year’s Eve.

“This pipeline will also provide energy security for the wider region, Central Europe,” Bocan-Kharchenko said.

The Russian ambassador also stated that the gas pipeline will provide additional opportunities for Serbia to become even more attractive for investments, because it is also becoming a transit country for gas.

“This is really the best gift for the New Year, so that as soon as the new year begins, we will have a great event in the development of bilateral relations,” said the Russian ambassador.

He thanked everyone who worked on the construction of the gas pipeline, and Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić expressed his great gratitude to Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Bajatović: Europe will need gas from the “Balkan Stream”

The director of “Srbijagas”, Dušan Bajatović, said that all gas transport capacities, 100 percent, are in Bulgaria, Serbia and Hungary, which means that Europe will need gas from “Balkan Stream”.

“This is a great day,” Bajatovic said, adding that Serbia is already safe, with a reduction in transport through Ukraine.

Bajatović also pointed out that during the construction of the pipeline the most modern equipment was installed, with the most modern materials.

He announced that plans for accelerated gasification would be drawn up, which President Aleksnadar Vučić also insisted on.

Bajatović said they will also work on the Niš-Dimitrovgrad-Sofia gas interconnection project, as well as the plan for the construction of the Belgrade-Banja Luka gas pipeline.

“Horgos will open for us, which means that we have worked according to all European principles. We will have access to Baumgarten (gas center in Austria) and probably Nord Stream 1 and 2,” Bajatovic said.

He added that everything was done in accordance with European regulations and that everything requested by the Energy Community was fulfilled, both in technical and commercial terms.
