Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić said today that criticism of the Belgrade water project comes from people who fear change and from politicians who have no ideas or dreams.

During the opening of the shopping center in Belgrade on the water, Vučić said that such criticism occurs every time something new is built.

“When they started to build the road, they said we would never get to Čačak. And at the end of next year we will make a trip to Požega. Then they said the same about the railway to Budapest, and next year they will come from Belgrade to Novi Sad and vice versa. in 27 minutes, you won’t be able to have tea or coffee, ”Vučić said.

He said that despite the criticism, he will continue to dream up great ideas.

Responding to the question whether the construction of such a project satisfies the interests of a private investor, Vučić said that the Serbian state was also interested in that.

“It’s not just your (investor’s) interest, and it’s our interest to do something so great with wetlands.” We made something out of nothing and hired people. Of course, there are interests and private property, but that is the essence of capitalism. “If someone doesn’t see that calculation and is not clear about it, I don’t know what to add,” Vucic said.

According to him, the rest of Belgrade is also benefiting from the construction of this project because the prices of apartments in the area have increased and therefore the property of the people who live there.

“This changes the whole city and I am very proud of it… Just as we had to finish the construction of the Saint Sava Temple. It’s important that things end, ”said Vucic.
