Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić announced that the first quantities, “at least two”, and perhaps three vaccines against the coronavirus, will arrive in the country “before the end of the year”.

Vučić said that the start of the vaccination will depend on the health authorities, but also added that he believes it will start “in December, and at the latest in January.”

“We will have the first quantities of at least two vaccines, and I expect three, before the end of the year, which will show that Serbia is among the countries that managed to deliver vaccines from various destinations thanks to its reputation in the world,” Vucic said in Indjija. attended Laying of the first stone of the plant of the Japanese company Tojo Tires.

He said that Serbia had ordered 340,000 doses of the Pfizer vaccine, that the Russian vaccine was being tested and that the registration of the Chinese vaccine was pending.

“I think that, along with one or two other countries in Europe, we are the only ones who will receive some amounts of the vaccine by the end of the year. We will receive a large portion of those vaccinations in January. “We seek to offer all kinds of vaccines, so let people choose, and I think all vaccines are good,” said the President of Serbia.

He also announced that the Kovid hospital in Kruševac will be open for patients in three to four days and estimated that it will contribute significantly to the capacities of the health system.

Significantly fewer new infected

Compared to the figures of seven days ago, there are “significantly” fewer new coronavirus infections in Serbia today, Vučić said.

“The numbers are decreasing, and today at 10 o’clock they were better than last Tuesday in terms of new infections. Compared to the previous seven days, we have significantly less infected, but our hospitals are full, we have 9,400 people in them” , said.

He added that it is possible to introduce a mandatory PCR test to leave Serbia “if Europe requests it,” but added that he does not believe there will be a large influx of people to and from Serbia during the upcoming holidays.
