Today, Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić will attend the ceremony to mark the start of work on the “Deep Processing” plant, a key project of the second phase of the modernization of the oil refinery in Pancevo.
Today a 300 million euro deep processing plant with delayed coking technology starts operating. This will allow the refinery to produce more motor fuel and less fuel with a lower margin. More than 60 local experts will participate in deep processing, which is another benefit for the local community.
The ceremony started at 12:00 and you can follow it on Alo.rs.
Great day for Serbia
President Vučić recalled how the cornerstone was laid three years ago, and now the work has been completed successfully.
– This is a great day for Serbia. We will further improve our relationships. Protecting the environment comes first. We will have less dust, waste particles and substances that pollute the environment. This type of project is a magnificent thing and there is nothing like it in the countries of the former Yugoslavia. Such investment will continue to raise the standard of living of citizens and an additional entry into the Serbian budget, Vučić said.
The president congratulated the investors and citizens of Serbia for the great project.
The Russian Ambassador to Serbia, Alexander Bocan Kharchenko, expressed his satisfaction with the new project, which is being implemented in cooperation between the two countries.
– This is an extraordinary event. Something similar does not exist in this part of Europe. A company continues its development in the difficult conditions of the corona virus epidemic and is developing the “Deep Processing” project. The strategic partnership between Russia and Serbia continues – said Bocan Kharchenko.
Tour of the control room
The president visited the refinery control room, where he marked the start of work on the deep processing plant with Gazprom Neft President Aleksandar Đukov and Minister Zoran Mihajlović.
“The more we develop, our coca needs will grow,” said the president.
Kiril Tyurdenev, general manager of NIS, said that this is a great step towards a new era of work.
– It is a new reference for the company and new standards, we produce coke that until now has only been imported. That is a great benefit for us – said Tyurdenev.
Aleksandar Đukov noted that the beginning of the construction of the complex was announced in 2017, and today it can be said that the project was carried out successfully.
– This highly efficient project can start successfully – said the president of Gazprom Neft.
The ceremony was also attended by the Deputy Mayor of Belgrade, Goran Vesic, as well as the Director of the Serbian PE Corridors, Aleksandar Antic.
By the way, the president also attended the laying of the first stone during the construction of this plant.
