The Smilovska lakes are full of these types of fish, but also grass carp, bream, pike, babushka, bodorka and other fish.
Bozilov says that the fight with the fishing lasted more than 2 hours and that in the end he was helped by fellow fishermen who were nearby. According to Svetislav Lukić, a fish farmer, this season, many catfish specimens were caught in the Smilovski lakes.
The most successful among Dimitrovgrad fishermen who like this place was Acko Stoilkov, who last August caught a catfish weighing 38 kilograms, and last year he had a specimen up to 42 kilograms!
The Smilovska lakes are practically next to each other, made in the mid-seventies and eighties of the last century at an altitude of more than 700 meters above sea level to serve for drainage and irrigation of Odorovsko polje, in Zabrdje Dimitrovgrad. Soon after, they stocked up and are great spots for fishermen, but also many hikers.
