“After four grenade attacks during the internationally approved peace in Kosovo between 2000-2007 and the attempted terrorist attack in 2016, the Visoki Decani monastery remains one of the most threatened religious and cultural sites in Europe and the world,” he wrote Sava Janjic on Twitter.

Yesterday, Abbot Janjic announced on Facebook the decision of the Protected Areas Surveillance Council, which adopted an agreement for the protection of monasteries against the construction of an international highway and which, he said, guarantees respect for the law.

As he wrote, the decision of the Council for the Implementation and Monitoring of Protected Areas adopted an arrangement that will protect the monastery from the construction of an international highway, which will bypass the protected area, and on the other hand will allow the rehabilitation of the existing highway through the area for local use.
