BELGIA – The trial of actor Branko Vidaković (61) for unauthorized possession of drugs for personal use began today at the Belgrade Palace of Justice.
Upon his arrival today at the Palace of Justice, he signed a plea agreement with the Prosecutor’s Office, and the sentence imposed is still unknown. This agreement must be confirmed by the court, said the spokeswoman for the prosecution, Irena Bjelos, adding that before that, the prosecution will not announce the details of the agreement, that is, what punishment awaits Vidaković. On this occasion, the Belgrade High Court has scheduled a hearing for December 27, in which the agreement between Vidaković and the prosecution will be discussed, court spokeswoman Tatjana Tešić told Tanjug.
The actor is charged with possession of drugs for personal use, for which he faces a fine or prison sentence of up to three years. Vidaković was supposed to start his trial today on the basis of those allegations, but when he concluded the deal, the trials will not. If you confirm the deal by the end of December, the court will immediately pronounce a verdict on it.
The process against him is now separated from the process against the musician Ilija M. because he reached an agreement with the Prosecutor’s Office.
There was an incredible change in the courtroom today! That is to say, the musician Ilija M. addressed the judge just before the start of the trial and requested the removal of his lawyer, claiming that he had pressured him before the trial!
– I also had a big problem with Branko Vidaković, who contacted my lawyer through his lawyer and offered me 5,000 euros to confess to the crime. It should be recalled that Ilija M. (40), who was arrested together with Vidaković in July with 30 grams of heroin, also sat on the dock today.
Ilija M. is charged with drug trafficking, that is, a much more serious crime: the unauthorized production and distribution of narcotics, for which he faces a prison sentence of three to 12 years.
The two were arrested on July 17, when police found 20 grams of heroin hidden in MI’s medical protective mask, at the time when, according to media reports at the time, they got into a Ford car and treated to escape from the police patrol.
During the search of the apartment in Vracar, where the famous actor lives, the inspectors found two scales and another 10 grams of narcotics. In the first phase, both were suspected of trafficking heroin, but the investigation established that the actor used the drugs for personal needs.
