At the press conference, he assessed that the decision to expel the members of the DS is detrimental to the party, that such a decision leads to the dissolution of the party, and asked Lutovac to convene the decision and apologize to the people to whom insulted like that.

“If you don’t do that, we ask you to resign,” Ognjenovic said.

He evaluated that it is difficult to explain such a procedure, that it is not democratic and represents bad education, and added that the membership is dismayed that the president of DS makes decisions without debate and with a fragmented composition of the presidency.

Ognjenovic added that the people who were expelled from the party were among the most active and militant and contributed to what the DS struggles to gain more followers.

He added that Lutovac said that the expelled members were kidnapping the party and asked him when the deputies, the vice president and the members of the Board of Directors could kidnap the party.

He added that membership bothered him because of words like the purge and noted that such rhetoric has no place in the DS.

“If he prohibits or avoids votes in the DS, he is not a Democrat,” Ognjenovic emphasized, telling Lutovac to stop behaving like a punitive expedition.

He said that the basic principle of the DS is freedom of expression, which includes critical thinking.

DS Vice President Dragoslav Šumarac emphasized that he did not recognize that part of DS’s decision from the Executive Board, because the purpose of those decisions is to avoid debate.

He said that the expelled Slobodan Milosavljevic was a victim of this regime, that Balsa Bozovic and other deputies fought against the government in the Serbian Parliament and fought for the professors at the Cuprija Faculty of Medicine, which Branislav Lecic spoke at the protests at the request of the opposition leaders. Goran Jajic respected DS procedures.
