Deputy Mayor Goran Vesić stated that Belgrade is no longer a hotbed of coronavirus and that the citizens of Belgrade adhere to the epidemiological measures taken.

He stated that about ten days ago, the capital had about 50 percent of the total number of infected people in Serbia, and that today that percentage is around 25 percent, with a trend to continue to decline.

“The inspection and the communal militia are constantly on the ground, visiting catering facilities, shopping centers and public transport. I can say that a large percentage of the citizens of Belgrade adhere to the prescribed measures,” Vesić told TV Prva.

He also pointed out that people’s health is the most important thing, but also recalled that the new restrictive measures affect the economy.

“Only in the service sector in Belgrade there are about 40,000 people, whose jobs are currently in danger. We hope that the new measures will give the necessary results and that they will last as soon as possible. The essence is to find a measure between the economy and public health, “he said. is the deputy mayor.

He recalled that the City of Belgrade made the decision to reduce the rent of its commercial premises by 50% in December and January.

“This measure will cost the city of Belgrade around 350,000 euros, with the aim of employers providing salaries to their employees. We call on private owners, as well as companies, to apply the same measure to help the tenants to survive these difficult days, “said Vesić.

Regarding the work of the kindergartens, Vesić noted that they will continue to work, that strict measures are respected in them and that about 40 percent of the children currently attend the kindergartens. As for cultural institutions, he said that the city’s secretary of culture held meetings with the directors of the Belgrade theaters, in order to adapt their work to the new measures.

He noted that the new covid hospital in Batajnica, which was completed in four months, will make it possible to relieve Belgrade hospitals, recalling that at the time of the crown, citizens must also treat other diseases.

He announced the end of the contest for 150 new communal policemen. According to him, that means better communal order in the capital, greater protection of citizens against noise, inadequate parking.

He also emphasized that during the pandemic, not a single construction site in Belgrade was stopped, with the protection of employees.

“The Patriarch Pavle Boulevard, also the Makis-Mladenovac regional water supply system, as well as the new bus station in New Belgrade are being built. Tsar Dusan Street and Savski Square are being built. The Stefan Nemanja Monument It will be finished on December 25, while in January the entire square is finished, ”concluded Vesić.
