– The French part will be in charge of the electrical mechanics, wagons, rails, everything that has to do with the mechanical and electrical part, while the Chinese part will build the subway. I think it is the best possible combination. The French company Egis is doing a feasibility study, it is being done in stages, and in March we will obtain the first part of that study on Makiško polje, that is, the deposit. Meanwhile, during the autumn, we will adopt a plan for the general regulation of railway systems in the territory of Belgrade, explained Vesić, reports BeoInfo.

As you said, we have determined places for 43 metro stations and those are the first two metro lines. The first one starts in Makiško polje and ends in Mirijevo, and goes through Železnik, Banovo brdo, Savska, reaches Savski trg where the first two lines will cross, then Trg republike, descends to the port of Belgrade, Ada Huja, Karaburma and ends in Mirijeva. The second line will run from Zemun train station to Mirijevo.

– The total value of the first line is 1,800 million euros and the second of 2,200 million euros, which represents an investment of four billion euros. We will start building the subway at the end of next year. We did it even if everyone else promised. This is the first time we have done all the groundwork to start building the metro. The Republic of Serbia will issue a construction permit over the next year and we will start building the metro at the end of 2021. Which means that in the next five years, citizens will have two metro lines, 43 kilometers of metro, which is something historic for Belgrade, Vesić said.

Speaking about Belgrade on the water, Vesić stated that it was a project that started investment in our country and put Belgrade on the investment map of the world.

– Today, when you go to any capital, first they ask us about Belgrade on the water. This project would not be rejected by any of the main European capitals. Someone who is an investor, when he sees that someone in Belgrade is investing 3.5 billion euros in a project, he can also invest his money. Belgrade on the water is, therefore, a turning point in the development of Serbia, it is a project that employed our industry, at the moment 2,800 workers are working on that work. In about a month, the mall will be completed, the Magnolia Building will be completed, and in the fall of next year, the Belgrade Tower, which will house the St. Regis Hotel, will be completed. This is especially important for Belgrade because it is a hotel chain that does not reach all cities. Belgrade on the water has started to invest in our country, it is not only important for its size, in the last 4 years almost 200 new factories have been opened in Serbia. Investors would not have come to Serbia if they had not seen an example of someone building a project as large as Belgrade on water – Vesić emphasized and added that this allowed us to have such economic growth in both Serbia and Belgrade.

According to him, Belgrade on the water means going down Belgrade into the rivers, and according to the Belgrade plans of the 1930s, everyone predicts exactly that.

– We have almost 200 kilometers of coastline and we have not used them. We act as if we are separate from the Danube and the Sava. So Belgrade on the water means the realization of centuries-old plans. Belgrade on water has launched some other projects that have been waiting for half a century, such as the Prokop station, which began construction in 1971, the relocation of the railway from the city center, and the plan was adopted in 1971 At Branko Pesic’s suggestion, the new bus station was planned several decades ago and was on all Belgrade urban plans. The coastline was completely neglected, it was under rails, old cars and now that part of the city took on a completely different meaning and became one of the favorite parts of the city. For all these projects, there was no money or political forces to carry them out before – emphasized Vesić.

Belgrade on water not only changes the capital in its point of view, it is the beginning of the urban development of Belgrade, Vesić said adding that Belgrade is beginning to solve its urban problems, relocation of bus and train stations, construction of new boulevards, construction of the Belgrade ring road. climate that is a consequence of Belgrade on the water.
