Thus, according to the Law on Public Order and Peace, prostitution in Serbia is a misdemeanor punishable before a court, both people who provide sexual services and those who use prostitution services, as well as those who provide premises for prostitution .
Four years ago everything changed and users of prostitution services became responsible for minor crimes. The law defines prostitution as “the provision of sexual services in exchange for money or other value” (Article 3, paragraph 15), while Article 16 establishes that “whoever engages in prostitution, uses prostitution services or rents premises for prostitution “a fine of 50,000 to 150,000 dinars or imprisonment of 30 to 60 days will be punished.”
In addition to the novelty of sanctioning users, this law introduced fines and increased prison sentences from 30 to 30 to 60 days.
