The Serbian Association of Journalists (UNS) condemned the statement of the deputy of the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) Biljana Pantic Pilja, who today in the Serbian Parliament described H1 and Nova S televisions as “anti-Serb”, “domestic traitors” and “foreign mercenaries”.

The statement states that Biljana Pantić Pilja stated during her presentation that “there is not a shred of independence in the independent media H1 and Nova S, and that” only one phrase can describe them: a national traitor, a foreign mercenary. “

Insulting the media is unacceptable, especially in the highest legislative body, and deserved the president’s reaction, UNS said.

It is added that UNS hopes that the deputy Pantic Pilja will apologize for this attack on journalists, as well as that the SNS will distance itself from her statement.

UNS called on participants in political life, as well as the public, to discuss media content in a civilized manner and, if they believe their rights are in danger, to address the Press Council, the courts of journalists’ associations and regulatory bodies.
