Kovid Ambulance in Zemun

The Association of Citizens United Against Kovid, which is made up mainly of doctors and health workers, sent a letter to the Minister of Health, Zlatibor Loncar, expressing their dissatisfaction because, as he stated, most of the things that they discussed with the minister in September “were not respected.”

The association stated that progress had been made since that meeting in the sense that “certain” pressure on the signatories of that initiative had ceased and that in communication with the Secretary of State Borislav Vekić, certain individual problems of certain young doctors had been resolved. “, but he also warned that numerous issues they discussed with the minister have not been resolved.

They affirmed that the agreement to hold periodic meetings once every 30 days was not respected and that it is especially problematic that instead of discussing the association’s proposal to return the powers of the Commission of Experts of the Republic for the Protection of the Population against Infectious Diseases, the Government of Serbia passed a law on education of crisis personnel to combat the coronavirus epidemic.

“With this law, the government has formed its subsidiary body. However, this law is contrary to legal norms, since government work bodies can be formed exclusively for matters in which the government is competent. It is not competent. for an epidemic of great epidemiological significance, the government, but the Minister of Health, the Commission of Experts of the Republic for the Protection of the Population against Infectious Diseases and the Institute of Public Health “, reads the letter to the Minister of Health .

Stating that experience is “the attribute that the Serbian public health system has lacked since the beginning of the epidemic,” the association warned that of the 28 members of the “newly formed body when they do not know the legal regulations”, 14 of them they are not doctors.

Kisic was congratulated on being elected minister without wearing a mask, without keeping her distance.

“Among the 14 doctors, we have people who created fear and panic with their statements, and finally mistrust among the population. We are also witnessing the fact that this body publicly appeals to wear masks and maintain distance, while most of the members from the same body in the Serbian Parliament do not wear masks, nor adhere to the extent of keeping their distance, “the letter says.

They recalled that the crisis staff member and the newly elected Labor Minister Darija Kisić Tepavčević, after being sworn in in parliament, received congratulations on the election to that position “without wearing a protective mask, without keeping distance and against all the announced measures “.

“A very important consequence of all this is the fact that the discontent, we can say that the anger of the medical workers, and even the people increases even more. We convey messages of great discontent from the doctors who are on the front line, that they are in the red zones, that they cannot, nor do they want you to accept that the authorities of this country are constantly violating their own regulations, and that this has the consequence that the medical profession is not fighting the epidemic ”, stated the association.

They estimated that “there will be a valid way to combat the epidemic when we return it to the legal framework.”

“When the fight against the epidemic is taken up by the profession, we can expect some positive progress,” the letter to the Minister of Health reads.

They added that their request to supervise the health institutions in Novi Pazar, Tutin and Sjenica has not been resolved in accordance with the provisions of the Health Care Law, in which, as they stated, the current situation is ” highly complex “.

“Currently, we have a petition from 37 doctors for the removal of the director of the General Hospital of Novi Pazar, while simultaneously filing criminal charges and private lawsuits against those same doctors, but also against some citizens. In this situation, it is completely realistic to expect a major aggravation, “they said. of the United Against Kovid Association.

They added that they did not receive a response from the Health Ministry on whether three signatories of the initiative, including two doctors from Novi Pazar, were fired for “professional errors, weak organization or some other reason.”
