A large two-story house on Mileta Ćalovića bb in the Slavko Zlatanovića settlement in Leskovac caught fire today at movie speed in less than half an hour.
The fire broke out around 2 p.m. and the two fire crews arrived, as the assembled locals say, within 5 minutes, according to Jugmedia.rs.
But, despite the quick reaction and great effort, the firefighters were unable to save the roof of the house, which was collapsing all the time and threatened to endanger their lives as well.
Along with the roof, everything that was made of wood material in that house was burned, while the walls remained intact because this unplated house was made of bricks.
Fortunately, no one lives in that house. Its owner is engaged in market sales and wholesaling, so, locals explained, the house served more as a warehouse, which was visible from the outside on a large pile of wooden pallets and drawers on the terraces.
Firefighters, who managed to save the neighboring house on a densely populated street from the fire, said the cause of the fire was unknown for now.
