Two people arrested in Serbia for migrant smuggling found dead in Paraguay

Two people were arrested on suspicion of having organized the illegal crossing of the state border by seven illegal migrants, whose remains were found in a container in Paraguay, announced the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Serbia.

Paraguayan authorities said last Friday that they were dead bodies of seven people, in an advanced state of decomposition, found in a container with fertilizer, which was sent from Serbia three months ago.

Due to the existence of grounds to suspect that they committed the crime of illegal crossing of the state border and human trafficking, a citizen of Morocco HM (30) and a citizen of Algeria SK (29) were arrested, reported the Ministry of the Interior in a statement. RTS.

They are charged that, according to other unidentified persons, they placed the migrants in a container for the transport of goods on railway lines, in order to avoid border controls between the Republic of Serbia and the Republic of Croatia.

The suspects were detained for up to 48 hours and will be taken to the Superior Prosecutor’s Office in Sremska Mitrovica, along with a criminal report.

The arrest operation was carried out by members of the Ministry of the Interior, the Service for the Fight against Organized Crime, in cooperation with the Sremska Mitrovica Superior Prosecutor’s Office and in coordination with the Organized Crime Prosecutor’s Office.
