The meeting of the Serbian delegation, led by President Aleksandar Vučić, with the special envoy of the President of the United States, Richard Grenel, and the executive director of the American International Development Financial Corporation (DFC), Adam Boler, ended around 15.00 hours.

After the meeting, the representatives of the two delegations signed the Joint Declaration, after which they addressed the media.

The meeting in the Serbian Palace was attended by Prime Minister Ana Brnabić, as well as Ministers Ivica Dačić, Zorana Mihajlović, Branislav Nedimović and Rasim Ljajic and PKS President Marko Cadež.

The topic of the two-day talks between Serbian officials and the DFC delegation, which arrived in Belgrade last night, was mainly infrastructure and other projects, which could be financed by that American fund, but the meeting in the Palace could include a range more wide of relationships. “I DIDN’T TALK ABOUT VISITING WASHINGTON …”

– Dear friends, dear Mr. Grenell, His Excellency Mr. Godrfi, friends of the United States, dear citizens of Serbia, representatives of the Government, this is an important day for us. We arranged all trade relations with the United States in a manner agreed upon in 1881. We have not had such important agreements since then, and that such important things happen in terms of the economy … I was not talking about the visit to Washington, about what we have achieved. We open the door, so I want to thank Donald Trump, who had enough understanding and wanted to listen and listen, to us who did not always want everyone to listen. He was patient enough and showed respect for the Serbian people and citizens. On the other hand, those conversations were not easy, but we respect what we were shown and we will fulfill our obligations – Vucic began.

“THEY SAID THAT THE VISIT TO WASHINGTON WAS DUE TO THE TRUMP CAMPAIGN …”

– They said that everything was done in Washington because of Donald Trump’s campaign, but here is the entire team of America, of his government, that this is not only because of the elections, but because of the idea of ​​being more present in the region, to help us to live better and to show good relationships on an unconventional level. They told us clearly: we came to Belgrade to dig, to help the employees, but also those who did not. The arrival of the DFC, when we put aside the symbolic meaning, where do Americans come from and where they want to invest, there is a future. These are great symbols for the country and the region. We are proud that this office is opening in Belgrade, people see it and care about the future.

“IT’S TIME TO TAKE CARE OF PEOPLE!”

– It’s for us, because people underestimate it … Nobody brings us money or gives it to us. It is one of the means by which they help the region, it is the development, the prosperity of the parts of the world where they invest money … As in Chile, Argentina … These people want to return the money to their taxpayers. You will participate in guarantee schemes like the ones we did for our economy. We can achieve great results with our American friends, this is a great day for Serbia. We will work quickly on opening airlines … The most important thing for citizens is how to protect their interests. I liked the phrase: “It’s time to take care of people, not if someone will find a comma, a period at work.” This is good for the Serbian and Albanian peoples and for all the people who live with us, and that is the best message from Belgrade today.

“WE WILL NOT HIDE, WE WILL WAIT FOR NEW CONVERSATIONS!”

– We will continue talks with the Albanians under the auspices of Brussels and we will not hide, but we will await further talks with our American friends. Make a unique market, make a better life for people, what we dream … Hate someone in your house, let us work! We have one of the most beautiful walks in Europe, it is more beautiful than the one in Oslo and Tel Aviv. Do you know how many foreign workers we have, from Albania, Turkey … There are more than 250 and more and more? The better you live, the bigger the numbers. We need connectivity and a common market, so these ideas are important to us. That is why everything that we have agreed with the Americans is very important.

GRENEL: VUCIC HAS SHOWN THAT HE IS A GOOD NEGOTIATOR!

– I think everyone knows that Americans are an impatient people, the Donald Trump administration even more so. I want us to deliver on the promises we made to you, President Vučić, Prime Minister Brnabić. I want to address the people of Serbia and say that you keep your word, because many promises have been made over the years. I hope you will keep our word, not only with regard to the Washington agreement, but also with the previous three related to railroads and highways. We should not dedicate ourselves only to words on paper, it does not make sense. The symbolism is important, but it does not feed the table, and what we want is to turn these promises into real work, so we ask the citizens of Serbia to remember these obligations of ours and to call us, to keep our word, to remember us. All of this vision is possible because President Trump saw an opportunity. Many just needed a few government leaders to embrace the ideas and support them. Thanks to the president, he is not only a good negotiator and someone who is very honest in what he can and cannot do. I had to go through a lot of trouble on both sides, there will be a difference in the future. We do not ask that Serbia always agree with the United States, but what I wanted to do from the beginning is dedicate ourselves to dialogue, to listen to each other, and at the end, whatever the decision, partially commit ourselves to future dialogue. We hope they are completely new relationships, economic normalizations and symbolisms, political issues … We will find our way, when people have well-paid jobs, when they see that there is normalization. As we have seen in the United States, Trump has focused on the economy, and our commitment to Serbia and its citizens is that we will always deliver on our promises. I am excited about everything, this is the largest delegation that we have brought to Serbia.

“DONALD TRUMP IS DETERMINED TO COME TO SERBIA!”

– When we were in the cabinet and when Vučić called us, I knew what Trump’s reaction was when he committed to something. That undertaking is real, and he and Ivanka have expressed their desire to come to Belgrade. It gave President Vučić a great insight into Trump on the question of coming to Belgrade. It is time for the visit to Serbia, he is determined to come. I have no dates, it is complicated for us at the moment, but he expressed a wish and I can’t wait to see him here. When it comes to political issues, President Trump is a man on the sidelines in Washington in that administration. Today we are here precisely because he is on the sidelines, because he believes in this process.

VUCIC: TRUE, TRUMP ACCEPTED THE INVITATION!

– Trump was charming and accepted the invitation to visit Serbia. I didn’t push too hard on that, but since Grenel knows the whole conversation, President Trump agreed.
