A 45-year-old man died after falling ill on a hiking trail on top of Sokolov kamen in Jastrebac, “Blic” learned.
As we learn, he went on a recreational hike with the group, the usual route on foot to the highest peak in Jastrebac, 1,025 meters above sea level.
He first got sick on the hike, laid out the trail, presumably due to a heart attack, then collapsed to the ground. He fell near the trail and friends he was walking with called the Mountain Rescue Service for help.
As we wrote earlier, rescuers received a call at 11:59 am to rescue an injured person found at the location of Sokolov kamen on that mountain and began action. Police and ambulance medics, as well as members of the fire and rescue unit soon arrived on the scene.
Unfortunately, the unfortunate passed away.
As we learned, the death did not occur from injuries during the fall.
Police rushed to the scene of the tragedy and the body was transported by GSS rescuers and firefighters from Kruševac. Following the return of the Mountain Rescue Service team, the Kruševac police and the medical ambulance, more details will be known.
Although it can be said with certainty that it was the natural death of the unfortunate mountaineer, more details will be known after the police investigation and autopsy.
According to the first information, the unfortunate man was an amateur mountaineer, not a member of any mountaineering association.
