Tomorrow, the Serbian Orthodox Church and the faithful will celebrate the Birth of the Blessed Mother of God, a holiday popularly known as the Little Lady. The Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary is celebrated on the day the Blessed Virgin Mary was born in Nazareth, at the home of Joaquín and Ana, and is one of the largest votive festivals.

Joachim and Anna were infertile for a long time, without children. When they were old, they begged God to give them a son, to make them happy as he once made Abraham and Sarah happy by giving them a son, Isaac. One day, while praying to God in the garden under the laurel, an angel appeared to Anna and told her that her voice had reached heaven and that she would soon be a mother.

At that moment, Ana vowed to give the child to God, to serve him throughout the century. God gave them a daughter, but also a Mother of God. Old Ana gave birth to a daughter, whom she named Marija, which means tall or lover.
