The session of the Crisis Staff for the fight against the coronavirus, in which the reduction of the working day as well as the temporary closure of the catering facilities will be discussed, will not be held tomorrow, although it has been speculated that this will be the case. This was unofficially confirmed for Nova.rs by the Government of Serbia. Therefore, the question of the effectiveness of the measures that we had last weekend remains unanswered for now.

The number of kovid 19 patients in Serbia on a daily basis for more than two weeks exceeds 3,000, while doctors have been pointing out for days that the healthcare system is overloaded. Thus, the director of the Infectious Diseases Clinic in Belgrade, Goran Stevanović, said today that patients from covid hospitals in Belgrade will be sent to Kruševac for treatment due to lack of capacity in the capital.

That is why doctors are calling for stricter epidemiological measures, recalls Nova.rs.

A member of the Crisis Staff, epidemiologist Dr. Branislav Tiodorović, explained that the medical part of the staff will ask for another reduction in working hours for a week and another weekend without cafes and restaurants.

“Without seven to 10 days, we cannot have effects. According to epidemiological doctrine, it is necessary to have up to three weeks to implement rigorous measures. Tomorrow we will have the same position, as it is an intensive, very rigorous restriction for all facilities, with the exception that we will have to assess whether it will be at 2 pm or 5 pm ”, said Dr. Tiodorović.

He stressed that, like the previous one, it will most likely be closed all day next weekend.

After the earlier decision of the crisis staff, the high school students completely switched to online classes yesterday. Education Minister Branko Ružić said yesterday that this measure will be valid for high school students until Friday, and that the Crisis Staff will decide on its possible extension this week.

During the previous weekend, from Saturday at 12 o’clock to Monday at 6 o’clock in the morning, only grocery stores, pharmacies and gas stations could operate. At the ski resorts, the catering facilities were not operational throughout the weekend.

The exceptions were hotel cafes and restaurants that could only serve guests who had a registered stay over the weekend. As for cultural institutions, only theaters could operate until 9 at night, while cinemas were closed.

The planned sporting events were held, but without the presence of the public. The measures that are currently in force prescribe that restaurant facilities, shopping centers and other services can operate until 8:00 p.m., and food stores until 9:00 p.m.

It is also prohibited to gather more than five people indoors, as well as the obligation to wear masks indoors and on public transport. PCR tests or a ten-day quarantine are mandatory for entry to Serbia for all citizens entering from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, North Macedonia, Montenegro and Hungary.
