The earthly remains of the Blessed Metropolitan of Montenegro and the Coast, Amfilohije, will be buried today in the crypt of the Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ in Podgorica.
From the early hours of the morning, people from all over Montenegro arrive in front of the Podgorica Cathedral to pay their last respects to Blessed Metropolitan Amfilohije.
Already at this time, there are long lines of people waiting to enter and kiss the remains.
Throughout the night, there was a sea of people in front of the Temple waiting to say goodbye to their metropolitan.
Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić, who arrived in Podgorica last night, will also attend the funeral.
His Holiness Patriarch Irinej of Serbia will serve the Holy Liturgy at 9 am, with the participation of several bishops from the Local Churches.
In the continuation of the Holy Liturgy, a mass will be served, after which the body of Blessed Metropolitan will be deposited in the tomb of the crypt of the Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ, which the Bishop prepared for his life.
During the Holy Liturgy, His Eminence Bishop Irinej of Bačka will speak, and after the service His Holiness the Serbian Patriarch Irinej, Academician Matija Bećković, Prime Minister Zdravko Krivokapić, President of the Parliament of Montenegro Aleksa Bečić, as well as the Administrator of the Metropolitanate of Montenegro and the Bishop of Budtovaral, Nikšć on the website of the Metropolitan.
Metropolitan Amfilohije passed away on Friday, November 30 in KBC Podgorica, after which his earthly remains were transferred to the Cetinje Monastery, where thousands of believers came to give their last kiss and receive the blessing of their archbishop.
On the day of Saint Peter, the Wonder Worker of Cetinje, the liturgy of the Holy Hierarch was celebrated in the monastery of Cetinje, after which the Blessed Metropolitan was solemnly dismissed from Cetinje, and was welcomed on their knees by tens of thousands of faithful in Podgorica .
