In social protection institutions and homes for adults and the elderly in Serbia, 169 users and 303 employees fell ill with the corona virus, the Ministry of Labor, Employment, Veterans Affairs and Social Affairs announced today.

A total of 5,414 users of social protection institutions and 2,464 employees were served.

By the way, the next session of the crisis staff for the fight against the corona virus will be held tomorrow at 8:00 am in the Government of Serbia, the profession will first analyze the epidemiological situation and then decide on new measures.

The Serbian Government decided on Sunday, at the suggestion of crisis staff, that the catering facilities (cafes, restaurants, nightclubs and bars, as well as shopping centers) will be closed from March 22 at 6:00 am, and that could be one of the main topics of tomorrow’s session.

However, the medical part of the crisis staff has a clear position on tougher measures, but they are still aware of the economic consequences of the closure.

The epidemiologist and member of the Crisis Staff, Dr. Predrag Kon, said that the medical part agrees with that, everything must be closed for at least 14 days.

– However, we have the so-called economic dictate, and these are facts that cannot be ignored. In just two days, 85 clear complaints and waiver requests came in, Dr. Kon said.

He added that measures are being sought to prevent the transmission of the virus.

“With the opening, we should wait until the virus activity begins to decline and I will advocate for that,” he said.
