Today it will be cloudy and rainy in Serbia: meteorologist Đurić reveals what temperatures await us in March

Today a mostly cloudy weather is expected in Serbia, in some places light short-term rains, mainly in the northeast, east and south, and light snow in the higher mountainous areas, announced the Hydrometeorological Institute of the Republic of Serbia.

Long-term forecast from meteorologist Đurić

– Strip in the spring – says the meteorologist Djordje Đurić.

According to him, the ice wave, with temperatures at the lowest point, which is finally behind us, represents the (official) end of winter.

Many have already begun to wonder if it is time to gradually put winter clothes in the closets or if another torrent of winter awaits us.

The fear is the photos of America, which show the consequences of the terrible winter storms that, unexpectedly, descended to the Gulf of Mexico.

Taking into account that the snow from the last ice wave descended on Athens, many wonder if something like this could happen to us in the second half of February and March, and if it is better to wait with the summer wardrobe.

Strip in the spring

– Tomorrow we will have temporary rains, and then, until the end of the month, there will be no winter. Everything is pulling in spring and temperatures will be higher than average for this time of year by between five and even ten degrees. The average is between five and nine degrees in February, and now we will have 10 to 15 – says Đurić.

He delighted his fellow citizens by stating that locally the temperatures will be even higher.

– Locally, we can expect temperatures of twenty degrees. The mornings will be cold and foggy, but the days will be warmer than average.

March, the month of cooling

However, he warns that at the end of the month, we will most likely have a cold snap.

– There should be no snow on the plains, but there are conditions for freezing rain. The only exception is the Negotin region, which is proverbially colder than the rest of Serbia.

He also referred to the appearance of snow in March, as happened to us last year.

– Climatic spring begins on the first day of March, but March is generally a month of surprises. Sometimes there is more snow in March than in January. Last year, the snow fell on March 20.

America and Serbia cannot be compared

He referred to the strong storms that hit the United States.

– America is a country of climatic and meteorological extremes. There you have terribly hot summers and terribly cold winters, with lots of snow.

He said that Serbia and the United States cannot be compared.

– Our climate is not so extreme. It can be cold and snowy, but at least cold winters have been the exception to the rule lately. The last real winter was 2012, but we had snow waves in 2016 and 2017. There is less snow than in our grandparents’ time.

However, he said it is difficult to be 100% sure what will actually happen, as the weather is unpredictable and precise temperatures can be reliably known three days in advance.

– I’m sure for the next three days, and I can guess very well what will happen at the end of the month. It’s hard to say after that, but, like I said, March is hit or miss, even though it is the “month of spring.”

Official forecast of the Hydrometeorological Institute of the Republic for large cities

The forecast of the Hydrometeorological Institute of the Republic from February 16 to March 15, 2021 coincides with Đurić.

The temperatures will be stable, without extreme drops in temperature, and a temporary cooling, lack of air, will arrive in late February and early March.

It will be cold in Belgrade in the morning, but the temperature will be above average during the day. Rain, and even snow, are possible only at the end of this month and at the beginning of March.

The situation in Novi Sad is almost identical. The morning will be cold, and during the day, the citizens of Novi Sad expect high temperatures for this time of year. The temporary worsening of the weather will arrive at the end of February, but it will last a short time.

In Nis, temperatures will rise to 16 degrees, although the morning temperatures will be low, but there should be no frost. The temporary cooling will arrive at the end of February and will last a few days in March.

In Kragujevac, temperatures will rise to 14 degrees. Like the rest of Serbia, Kragujevac expects to cool down by the end of the month.

Judging by the forecasts, although spring is at hand and we can enjoy the beautiful days of February, let’s not leave the winter things until at least March.
