The figure that is announced every day, and which refers to the number of new infections in the span of 24 hours, exceeded 500 yesterday. That is the highest figure since the start of the pandemic.

Epidemiologists, members of the crisis staff, have been warning for days that the situation with the coronairus is unstable and that there could be a sudden increase in the number of newly infected people at any time.

The measures have been “toughened” several times so far, and the population has been asked to abide by them, but it seems that some citizens did not understand the seriousness of the situation, so many times they learned in the media and social networks that various celebrations and nightlife were held.

A member of the crisis staff, Dr. Predrag Kon, stated last night that the increase of more than 500 patients in Serbia in 24 hours is worrying. He points out that the Crisis Staff meeting is necessary to determine new measures in the fight against the coronavirus, stating that the introduction of mandatory PCR tests for all those who enter Serbia is true, because the situation with the coronavirus in the countries that surround us is alarming.

Another member of the crisis staff, Srdja Jankovic, says headquarters will react, but measures such as movement restrictions are not being considered now.

“At this time, no concrete additional measures are being considered, but the measures will monitor the situation. One of the possibilities is to introduce a negative PCR test to enter Serbia, but I cannot say how realistic it is before the meeting,” he said Jankovic.
